Semana Cultural Latina Iowa City was launched in 2019 through the vision and work of cultural organizers Manny Gálvez and Miriam Alarcón Ávila, creating a week-long platform for artistic expression, dialogue, and Latino cultural visibility.

The project returned in 2025 for its second official edition, with choreographer and educator Eloy Barragán joining the leadership team. Today, Semana Cultural Latina Iowa City is led by Manny Gálvez and Eloy Barragán, who continue developing the initiative through collaborations with artists, cultural organizations, and community partners.
