The Englert Theatre

Englert Theatre in Iowa City, Iowa, is a renovated vaudeville-era playhouse now serving as a community arts center and 725-seat performance venue. It is owned and operated year around by Englert Civic Theatre, a non-profit art organization

E- Danza

E-DANZA is a nonprofit organization founded by ballet instructor, choreographer, and filmmaker Eloy Barragán to promote inclusivity and expand access to the arts, particularly dance. Barragán has been a University of Iowa faculty member since 2005, and through E-DANZA and his individual work, he brings global perspectives to Iowa while inspiring the next generation of dancers and choreographers.

ARTISTS

Narciso Meneses Elizalde
MEXICO

Narciso Meneses Elizalde is originally from Hidalgo, Mexico. For the past few years, he has lived and worked in and around Cedar Rapids and Iowa City in the United States. He earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Iowa. Along with the Paper Revitalizers working group, he received a Big Field Fund grant in 2024. Together, they have been developing an amate paper production project in the Sierra Otomí-Tepehua. He is currently producing a documentary about the project, which will premiere in Iowa later this year.

Seso Marentes
IOWA

His family has been Iowans for four generations, with deep roots in the state. Born in 1982 on the east side of Des Moines, he has spent more than a decade mentoring youth, serving as a guide, role model, and big brother figure who is always cheering young people on. He is a driven artist and cultural advocate shaped by a Midwestern upbringing and Mexican heritage. His work embodies Chicanismo as a living practice, grounded in cultural consciousness and community identity.
